Every Thursday at the Worcester Common Oval in the summer you can enjoy free live music, your favorite Worcester food trucks, farmer’s market, and craft vendors at the Out to Lunch Summer Concert Series.

July 14th: Swing High, Swing Low

Performance: Erin Harpe and the Delta Swingers

Kick off summer with Erin Harpe & the Delta Swingers! They were recently named Boston Music Award Blues Act of the Year award winners, and have been perfecting their "Charles River Delta Blues" style, a fusion of country, Americana, soul, even reggae, and making quite a splash on the blues scene. A Delta Swingers show provides non-stop dancing, and audiences go wild for their mix of upbeat originals as well as classics that range from Memphis Minnie to Bessie Smith to early Bonnie Raitt. Featuring the intricate finger-picking guitar style of chanteuse Erin Harpe, the band evokes a southern juke joint where the whiskey and gin are flowing and everybody's dancing to that undeniable rootsy blues beat. July 21st: Sustainability Day

Performance: Rice

Rice - an American Band with elements of Americana, Jam, and Blues, was born in the summer of 2014 as a few friends got together to jam, and liked the results. A mutual admiration society developed and a love of performing music together was created. The band started gigging in the fall of 2014, and by spring of 2015, the first seven gigs had six different unique lineups as the band has welcomed frequent guests to the shows. As a result, each show has its own feel and sound. The material is mostly original music, but some covers are sprinkled throughout the set, too. In a short period of time, the band has played in MA, RI, NH, ME, the NYE celebration in Orange, MA, and at the Strangecreek festival in Greenfield.

Simply put, the Blue Light Bandits are made up of a group of men with soul, a four piece groove band from New England serving a smooth combination of rock, pop, and R&B. For them, music is about passion or, more specifically, an emotional release. They are influenced by, listen to and play a wide plethora of music, but it all centers on one important concept: the ability of the music to relate. Be free. Feel good. Aug 4th: Down in New Orleans

Performance: Samirah Evans

The voice is smoky-sweet, the phrasing is sophisticated. Samirah Evans' musical style is heavily influenced by the New Orleans sound where she was one of the city's most popular and in-demand singers. Her 1990 debut at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival began a stint of 15 consecutive years performing there as a leader or featured vocalist, and she was a fixture in both clubs and concert venues throughout the Crescent City, including Snug Harbor, Tipitina's and the House of Blues. During her career, she has toured North and South America, Europe and Asia, sharing stages with a multitude of New Orleans notables and legendary artists, including James Brown, B.B. King, Sheila Jordan, Terence Blanchard, Donald Harrison, Jr., Poncho Sanchez, Charles Neville, Bob Dorough, Irma Thomas, Kermit Ruffins, Trombone Shorty and Sam Kininger.

Aug 11th: Latin Day

Performance: Grupo Fantasia

Originally from the Dominican Republic, Angel Wagner began his career playing with a cheese grater and fork! At age eleven, Angel went on professional tour with a Merengue band, later performing in Miami and at Madison Square Garden in New York. Angel has performed with such groups as Aramis Camilo, Orchestra Cafe, Luis Ovalles and Manguito.  
Angel Wagner provides traditional island entertainment for all people and much of the music is performed on original, handmade indigenous instruments. The extensive repertoire includes original and cover songs from the Caribbean and Latin America. Also represented are various Cuban, Dominican Merengue, Puerto Rican Bomba and Plena, Colombian Cumbia, Mexican Mariachi, Calypso, Reggae and Salsa music.

Aug 18th : ¡Baila y Canta!

Performance: Matthew Sanchez y su Orchestra

"El Bebe de La Salsa", a nickname given to Matthew by the people of Worcester MA. This ten piece salsa band is filled with energy, youthful sound, and a true passion for salsa music, with a majority of band members having attended Berkley Music of College. "El Bebe de La Salsa" nickname given to Matthew by the people of Worcester MA.Matthew Sanchez has been singing salsa music for over 10 years, playing in venues and events in the NYC, RI, FL, MA, and PR areas. With his sonero improvising and his well-toned voice, Matthew is sure to captivate an audience where ever he goes. Matthew has been blessed to share the stage with such artist like Victor Manuelle, Lalo Rodriguez, Tony Vega, Conjunto Classico, Paquito Guzman, and many other artists.

Aug 25th: Music Carnival

Performance: Wilbur and the Dukes

Over the years, more than 250 musicians have been part of Wilbur and the Dukes. Members of the band have played national and international tours with Joe Cocker, Tina Turner and Bo Diddley, to name just a few! Most of the members are career musicians, so whenever they're home from the road or trying out semi-retirement, they come back to the fold. They're a rhythm and soul circus with lots of talented people having lots of fun.
