New England Swimming Championships Return to Worcester!

Posted: December 8, 2016

Discover Central Massachusetts is thrilled to announce that the 2016 New England Local Masters Swimming Committee (NE LMSC) & Colonies Zone Short Course Meter (SCM) Championships is returning to Worcester!

The event, open to the public, is held at Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) on December 9 – 11, 2016. This is the second year in a row that the NE-LMSC & SCM Championships returns to the heart of the Commonwealth.

This Championship is one of the largest Masters Swimming events on the East Coast.  With over 500 swimmers registered to compete, this is the largest NE-LMSC & SCM Championships yet!  Created to include swimmers from multiple regions, it doubles as the Championship SCM meet for the New England LMSC (MA, RI, NH, ME, VT) and the Colonies Zone (NE-LMSC States, Virginia, Maryland, DC, NY, CT).

The venue at WPI Sports & Recreation Center is a popular pool for swim meets, as they host the Bay State Conference Championships, New England Senior Championships, MIAA Boys North & Central/South Championships, America East Conference Championships, Northeast-10 Conference Championships, and the NEWMAC Championships.

The pool features a ten lane SCM competition course with five additional lanes of warm up/warm down, state of the art electronic timing and LED scoreboard, vast deck space able to hold up to 500 swimmers, and spectator seating able to hold over 400 people.

For all visiting swimmers and spectators, there will be free parking in Worcester's first green rooftop parking garage, the WPI Parking Garage.

The garage holds up to 500 vehicles and it’s located at 151 Salisbury Street, Worcester, MA 01609 (it’s just meters away from the pool at the WPI Sports & Recreation Center).

Additional street parking is available on Institute Road, Salisbury Street, and their off streets.  All other information for the event can be found at the following website:
