Spend Family Time for less than $20

Spending the weekend together as a family is fun but doing it on a budget is rewarding. Hanging out in the city doesn’t mean breaking the bank. Here are a few suggestions for some weekend family fun in Central Massachusetts for less than $20!

  • First Saturday of the Month is Free at the Worcester Art Museum! (Savings of over $40 for a family of four) – Explore the wondrous world of in the KAHBAHBLOOOM: The Art and Storytelling of Ed Emberley exhibit. A kid-friendly exhibit displaying the works of one of the most prolific and respected illustrators of children’s literature of the last 60 years. Learn to draw Emberley’s characters, check out his book stencils and send yourself an authentic Emberley postcard right from the museum. 
  • Try Candlepin Bowling at Colonial Bowling Center. For under $7 per person, be a part of Worcester’s history. Worcester developed candlepin bowling in 1880 and it is still played today! Call for more information: 508.754.7645
  • Spend Saturday morning at the Canal District Farmer’s Market learning about local fooderies, farmers and artisans. Taste local honeys and breads and enjoy fresh cut flowers and gifts. 
  • Spring weather is here! Visit Worcester’s free, year-round zoo, Green Hill Park Farm. With goats, llamas, and peacocks, the kids will be interested every step of the way. Tues – Sat 10:10am – 3:00pm and Free parking. Call for more information: 508.799.1323
  • Enjoy a free topping at Wooberry Frozen Yogurt!
  • Drop in for story time at Barnes & Nobles to listen to, “Goodnight, Goodnight, Construction Site” with arts and crafts to follow. 
  • It’s a Seuss Celebration at Annie’s Book Stop. Celebrate Dr. Seuss’s birthday with story readings and crafts.
