Central Mass is For Sports Lovers

You have probably heard by now that the AAA Red Sox affiliate is officially moving to Worcester in 2021. The team is expected to draw up to 10,000 baseball fans for each game at Polar Park in Worcester’s Canal District. The Worcester Bravehearts have likewise made our city their home and were named the 2014, 2015 and 2018 champions of the Futures Collegiate Baseball League (FCBL). 

Unfortunately, Baseball season is far afield this time of year, but there are plenty of other options to keep local sports fans engaged. Check out a few of our wintertime favorites:

The Worcester Blades

The Worcester Blades are Worcester’s professional women’s ice hockey team. The Blades compete in the Canadian Women’s Hockey League. Home games are played at Fidelity Bank Worcester Ice Center where the team continues to build a community committed and dedicated to empowering women and girls through athletics. +discover

The Worcester Railers HC

The Worcester Railers HC is Worcester’s professional men’s ice hockey team. Ownership has looked to a European sporting club model which calls for teams to go beyond the game-night experience and create partnerships throughout the community. This season, the Railers hope to bring a Kelly Cup Championship to Worcester. +discover

The Worcester 78s

The Worcester 78s are attempting to bring elite local basketball talent together to compete for an ABA championship. The team competes at Worcester State University led by President Jacques Lambert who boasts a decade of experience working in music, television and film. He has produced over 100 NHL, NFL, NASCAR, NBA and arena football anthem, intermission and halftime shows. +discover
 

Worcester Roller Derby (WoRD)

Worcester’s skater owned and operated roller derby league promotes women’s athleticism by hosting local roller derby bouts, recruiting and training new members, providing weekly practices, and staying active with local clubs, events and non-profits. +discover
