The Best Spots to Watch a Sox Game

Posted: July 10, 2017

We understand (and appreciate) the fact that a lot of Worcester’s new restaurants don’t have televisions for a reason, namely that they’d like us to interact with other humans. Still, there’s something to be said for the camaraderie of watching the game. Here are our top picks for spots to visit when you’re in the mood to grab a bite and watch some ball.

The Bar at Oak Barrel Tavern on Grove Street in Worcester

Quinn’s Irish Pub is our top choice to watch the game in Worcester’s Greendale neighborhood. Quinn’s is definitely family friendly and we recommend the Mighty Quinn Burger smothered in secret house sauce. With over 15 flatscreen television monitors, there’s not a bad view in the whole restaurant

Oak Barrel Tavern is also one of our favorite spots to watch a game! This newly renovated tavern serves a wide array of comfort food including sandwiches, burgers, steaks and seafood. Featuring over 40 selections of Bourbon and Whiskey as well as 16 rotating craft draft beer selections and 30 bottle and can options Oak Barrel is the perfect place to meet friends, celerate with family and watch the big game on one of their many HDTVs.

Funky Murphy's has all the charm and great food you would expect from an Irish Pub. With their (9) 60" LCD TVs and HD Projector with a 135" screen you are sure not to miss any action while watching your favorite team play!

The Boynton has the trifecta: neighborhood bar, sports bar, and college bar, all under one roof. Plus, they’ve got plenty of parking. Order a Boom Boom Platter and a selection from Maine Beer Company. The charisma behind the bar is palpable even on the busiest nights. With a screen mounted from every angle, we promise you won’t miss a moment of the action.

Let’s just get this out of the way and say that Breen’s Café is not the kind of café where you’ll find macaroons or loose leaf tea. Breen’s is a burger and chili place. The beer is cold. The fans are old school. The emotions run high at game time. (And, there’s free popcorn.)

The Banner Bar and Grille’s accordion windows make it a Canal District favorite on warm weather days. With a Wormtown in one hand and a Ranch Roll in the other, you’ll be in tip top condition to take in every inning.

Construction of a new sports bar is underway at 90 Commercial Street, across from the DCU center. Get ready to play ball!
