Warren is a rural town of 5000 people located in western Worcester County and is bisected by the Quaboag River. Warren is one of six existing towns that were first settled in 1660 and known as the Quaboag Plantation. Incorporated as ‘Western’ in 1741, the town was renamed ‘Warren’ in 1834 in honor of General Joseph Warren, who died at the Battle of Bunker Hill during the American Revolutionary War. Warren includes land petitioned from both the Quaboag Plantation and the "Kingsfield", which included parts of Palmer and Brimfield.
