Jazz in the Park: An Evening Celebrating Great Latin/American Musical Influences

The Massachusetts Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Principal Guest Conductor Jorge Soto presents at Worcester's Institute Park, 82 Salisbury Street an admission-free concert entitled "Jazz in the Park: An Evening Celebrating Great Latin/American Musical Influences." Master of Ceremonies is renowned singer/percussionist Manolo Mairena. Special guest artists include trumpeter Yaure Muniz, trombonist Angel Subero, bass player Wilson Vera, and keyboard player Gonzalo Grau. Music performed includes Chick Corea's "La Fiesta," Arturo Sandoval's "A Mis Abuelos," Sergio Mendes' "Mas Que Nada," Antonio Carlos Jobim's "Aguas de Marco," and "One Note Samba", Mongo Santamaria's "Afro Blue," Dizzy Gillespie's "A Night in Tunisia," and "Manteca," "Mambo Inn" by Sampson, Woodlen, and Bauza, and Diaz' s "Caballo Viejo," Other selections include "Moliendo Cafe" by Balnco and Perroni, Tito Puente's "Oye Como Va," Astor Piazzolla's "Libertango," de la Paz's "Lluvia," Lavoe's "El Cantante," and Rodriguez's "Cara de Payaso."  This concert is supported in part by a grant from the Worcester Arts Council, a local agency which is supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency.
