VENUE INFORMATION

Out of Bounds: Object, Material, and Print is an exhibition featuring the work of six contemporary artists whose work finds concept and experimentation in printmaking processes.

The exhibition will be on view September 8th-October 8th at Krikorian Gallery, Worcester Center for Crafts, 25 Sagamore Road, Worcester, MA. Opening reception 5:30-7:30, Thursday September 8th. Participating artists are Yizhak Elyashiv, Maxime Jean Lefebvre, Nancy S. McCormack, Mariana Ramos Ortiz, Carrie Scanga, and Imin Yeh. Curated by Anna McNeary.

The artists in this exhibition merge printmaking with form, symbolic materials, and nontraditional processes. Printmaking is a medium that encapsulates a great diversity of techniques, but all methods share the ability to transfer images, often in multiples, from a surface that contains that image’s information. Printmaking’s versatility sometimes amounts to a practical or aesthetic means of production for artists; at other times, its processes and materials are the crux of concept. Many contemporary printmakers are poised to blur boundaries between sculpture, installation, time-based media, and two-dimensional printed imagery. Whether reconsidering surface material, finding new uses for multiples, calling attention to an image’s context, or employing experimental and conceptual printmaking methods, these artists print outside of traditional margins.
