Poetry begins in the body and sings in the ear. We hear alliteration, assonance, consonance, euphony, cacophony, rhyme, rhythm, anaphora and all kinds of repetition, and yet are not always aware of what we hear. Sound yanks, caresses and awakens us to mood, tone, image and meaning. Join in the listening. We’ll use a few poems as examples and some prompts to get us moving, initiate a beat, perhaps syncopate the rhythm and integrate rhyme, so that we can quickstep into the dance of creation.
