Description: This six-week series of nature classes is designed for young children ages 4 to 5 unaccompanied by a parent. Each week brings a new focus, but we’ll always begin indoors with games, activities, or crafts, and then explore the great outdoors on Broad Meadow Brook’s clearly marked trails. Natural Science Illustration Mini Series: Botany

Description: Before there were cameras and computers, drawing and painting were an integral part of science education. This “ancient” way of learning is slowly being revived with great success. Through the use of discussions, discovery, writing, research, and art we will explore, plant anatomy, insect pollinators, and the art of botanical illustration. Students will come away with an understanding of the scientific process of discovery while honing their writing, comprehension, and art skills. This is a 5 week series of classes. Build a Bluebird House

Description: Who doesn’t love bluebirds? Beautiful and fun to watch, they help gardeners by eating insects all day long. Help bluebirds by building nest boxes from pre-cut kits. The boxes are suitable for other small cavity-nesting birds such as black-capped chickadees, tree swallows, white-breasted nuthatches. Our homeschool programs are designed for the homeschooling family. Parents are welcome to attend, or students may stay on their own if a medical form is on file with the sanctuary.
