Built in 1905, The Wachusett Dam in Clinton Massachusetts encloses the Nashua River, creating the beautiful and grandiose Wachusett Reservoir.

At the time of its construction, it was the largest public water supply reservoir in the world. The dam is over 100 years old and visiting it is like a stroll back in time.

Closed in 1990 due to public safety concerns, the dam opens two days a year for the public to walk across and enjoy its magnificent beauty. All other times visitors can walk the grounds around the dam, but they cannot cross over the reservoir.

The last chance you’ll have this year to walk the dam will be October 9 from 10 AM - 1 PM when the rangers will open the dam to visitors. It's located at Route 70 (River Street) in Clinton, Massachusetts.
