In an informed and thoughtful way, deadhorse hill purposefully does not list where the ingredients are from on their menus. However, the staff at deadhorse is impeccably educated about where their food comes from - Lettuce be Local, a local food hub located in Sterling,MA. It isn’t just about Massachusetts though – it’s about using Lobsters and Blueberries from Maine, and embracing the offerings that grow right here in New England. In a way, when you dine here, you are giving back to your community – not just from an economic standpoint, but from a revolutionary one as well – to start eating again what we have been naturally given and letting our chefs show us just how good it can be.

04 - Birchtree Bread Company
138 Green St. #5 / Worcester, MA

Do we think there is a mile radius cutoff for being counted as local when it’s made right in your own kitchen? Just kidding. But there is something enticing about having a sandwich on bread that was made right in the back with local greens and cheeses from a variety of farms including Brookford Farm of New Hampshire. All of Birchtree’s bread and pastries are made in house and from scratch, so when you pair them with local sprouts, lettuces, arugula, and other vegetable varieties, you are getting an experience that quite frankly isn’t offered at many other places.
