Discover Blackstone Valley's History

Daniel's Farmstead in Blackstone Massachusetts is a living museum that will take you back in time with its preserved farm complex equipped with 1830 farm house, period outbuildings and farm landscape. A foundation was set in place to preserve the farm's history. Their mission is to "to provide a place for people to gather, celebrate, and learn the values of a working farm and its traditions." Events are offered throughout the year including Easter egg hunts, plant sales, concerts and workshops.

River Bend Farm, Uxbridge

Reconnect with nature and learn about the history of the Blackstone Valley at the River Bend Farm and Visitors Center in Uxbridge. The visitor center provides information on the history and recreational opportunities of the Blacksonte Canal. You'll also discover trails, canoe access to the river, special birding fields, interpretive tours, summer concerts, and many events throughout the year.

Whittier Farms, Sutton 

Taste the farm fresh produce of the Blackstone Valley at the Grafton Farmer's Market or the Douglas Farmer's Market.

Visit the year-round dairy and produce farm, Whittier Farms, for homeade baked goods, seasonal produce, farm raised beef, and to visit one of their 275 cows who produce high quality milk for brands like Cabot cheese.

West End Creamery in Whitinsville is a family farm serving delicious farm-fresh ice cream and offering mini golf, barnyard jump, corn maze and more seasonal family fun.


Discover Blackstone Valley's Nature

Lookout Rock, Uxbridge

Lookout Rock is off a winding country road on the way from Uxbridge to Northbridge. A short hike takes you to the rock, which overlooks a dramatic landscape and the winding Blackstone River. 

The Blackstone River and Canal Heritage State Park in Uxbridge is a natural playground for kayaking, canoeing, fishing, hiking, cross country skiing, mountain biking, and picknicking. Some spots worth visiting are Millville lock and the roaring dam of the Blackstone Gorge.

Purgatory Chasm, Sutton

Purgatory Chasm State Reservation is a unique natural landmark. It runs for a quarter of a mile between granite walls rising as high as 70 feet. It's believed to have its origin in the sudden release of dammed-up glacial meltwater near the end of the last Ice Age, approximately 14,000 years ago. Stop by Whittier Farms down the street for a well deserved ice cream after you hike through the chasm.

You'll never get bored on Douglas State Forest's 5,907 acres of forest, water and recreational areas. Swim, boat or fish on Wallum Lake and hike or bike through acres of serene trails.

Southwick's Zoo, Mendon

Southwicks Zoo in Mendon is the largest zoo in New England with over 850 animals, a deer forest, Safari Sky Ride, elk and wetlands habitat ride, goat petting zoo, parakeet visiting room, camel rides and more! New to Southwick Zoo this year is Galliford’s Restaurant & Tavern, a full service restaurant, located within the zoo, which serves a menu full of classic New England comfort food.

Vaillancourt Folk Art is one of the last remaining "Made in America" Christmas studios. Christmas enthusiasts around the world visit for their highly detailed, hand-painted, Chalkware figurines. Visit to see the artists at work, grab a collectible ornament, and visit the Christmas museum and gallery.
