Volturno Pizza Napoletana
Just down the street from Piccolo’s is Volturno, a spot that's mastered “the art of pizza.” Cassie Smith, a student at Holy Cross and the president of their Her Campus chapter, says this is her favorite date night spot in Worcester. She explains, “The food is always incredible and it’s such a great atmosphere for a fun date night after we get sick of dining hall food.” She also mentions that she loves Volturno's buy-one get-one nights, so if you’re looking to change your routine and take advantage of a bargain, this is your spot.

Da Lat & Bancroft Tower
Like many students at Clark University, Mhairi Kilian’s favorite restaurant is Da Lat on Park Ave. They explain, “[Da Lat’s] food is stupid good and not super expensive. The folks who work and run the restaurant are so sweet too!” Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Mhairi and their partner have not been dining in at Da Lat. They prefer to take their meals to go and eat somewhere more secluded. Mhairi says, “Our go-to is always Bancroft Tower, it’s just so beautiful (and free!). Every time we find ourselves back in Worcester, we try to go and look out at the city skyline.” As the weather slowly but surely begins to warm up, spots like this paired with delicious food make for a perfect date night.
Green Hill Park
Another date night location to consider as the temperature rises is Green Hill Park, as suggested by Clark University student Mads Graham. They said, “We went to Green Hill Park with a hammock and hung it up on some wood posts of a picnic spot near the water. It was fall, so everything was beautiful, and it was cold that day, but we snuggled in the hammock and talked about whatever for hours and napped. I was so at peace and happy.” Mads makes it clear that Green Hill Park is a place to relax and enjoy nature with someone you love.
Bocado Tapas Bar
Clark University alum Anna Nehring says Bocado is her and her boyfriend’s “go-to spot for anniversaries and birthday dinners.” This delightful eatery is located on Winter Street and pays homage to Spanish culture with their variety of tapas. Anna explains, “The tapas are delicious and perfect for sharing,” and goes on to describe the “excellent service,” and “sophisticated yet cozy atmosphere.”
Oak Barrel Tavern
For folks willing to spend a little extra, Robert J. Davis of Assumption University recommends Oak Barrel Tavern on Grove Street. He and his girlfriend recently happened upon this establishment and were pleasantly surprised by the farmhouse aesthetics and the hustle and bustle of customers. Robert says, “The staff there is very friendly as well. They are always checking up on you to make sure you have a great experience.” He also notes that some of his personal favorites from the menu are the meatloaf, buffalo chicken dip, buffalo mac and cheese, and teriyaki chicken breast. With all those options and more, you and your significant other are bound to find something you love at Oak Barrel Tavern.
Worcester Public Market
If your plus one is a picky eater, they’re bound to find something at Worcester Public Market on Green Street. Kelly A. Knutelski of Assumption University says this is her favorite place to go on dates with her boyfriend, due to its “casual and fun” atmosphere and versatility. She explains, “I can enjoy some tacos for dinner while my boyfriend chows down on a plate of dumplings, and we can still end the night with some gelato or bubble tea.” Kelly also mentions it’s “pretty inexpensive, so a three-course meal doesn’t have to hurt your wallet.” You can even spend some of the money you save on food to shop at the array of vendors. With so much variety, there’s something for everyone at the Worcester Public Market.
Piccolo’s
If you’re on the hunt for some fine Italian dining at a reasonable price, look no further. Maddie Kelly, a student at Holy Cross and the social media coordinator for Her Campus Holy Cross, suggests Piccolo’s on Shrewsbury Street. She says, “It is a super cozy, small Italian restaurant that always has the best pasta and really great Gorgonzola garlic bread! It’s the perfect atmosphere for a cute date night that feels fancy and formal but isn’t super overpriced.” Take a peek at their website to read their delicious menu and book your reservation.
