Central Massachusetts is ready to celebrate Independence Day with fireworks, live music, family activities, historic programming, and community traditions across the region. From Worcester’s signature celebration at East Park to patriotic concerts, ballpark festivities, and living history experiences, there are plenty of ways to enjoy the holiday week with family and friends. 

This year’s celebrations are especially meaningful as communities across the country commemorate 250 years of American independence. City of Worcester Independence Day

Worcester’s free, family-friendly Independence Day Celebration brings together residents, families, and visitors for an evening of food, sponsor exhibits, giveaways, entertainment, family activities, live music by Dan Gabel and his Orchestra, and a fireworks display. Families can enjoy the splash park, playground, Kid Zone, cotton candy, and nearby dining on Shrewsbury Street, also known as Worcester’s Restaurant Row. 

Date: Thursday, July 2, 2026 

Location: Cristoforo Colombo Park (East Park), 180 Shrewsbury Street, Worcester, MA 

Time: Park opens at 4:00 p.m.; live music at 8:00 p.m.; fireworks with synchronized music at 9:30 p.m. 

 

Massachusetts Symphony Patriotic Pops Concert with Fireworks at Institute Park 

Mass Symphony Patriotic Pops Concert

The Massachusetts Symphony Orchestra opens its 75th season of free summer family concerts with a Patriotic Pops Concert and fireworks. The program celebrates the nation’s 250th birthday with music by American composers and concludes with Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture and Sousa marches during the fireworks display. 

Date: Friday, July 3, 2026 

Location: Institute Park, 82 Salisbury Street, Worcester, MA 

Time: 7:45 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.; rain date Sunday, July 5 at 7:45 p.m. 

4th of July Family Fest at Polar Park 

Polar Park Independence Day

The Worcester Red Sox will host the 2nd Annual 4th of July Family Fest at Polar Park. The event includes a live performance from the Worcester Symphony Orchestra, a screening of Field of Dreams, Sunset Catch on the Field, inflatables, Touch-A-Truck, face painters, glitter tattoos, balloon artists, water balloons, Central MASScots, and UniBank Fireworks.

Date: Saturday, July 4, 2026 

Location: Polar Park, 100 Madison Street, Worcester, MA 

Time: Festivities begin at 4:00 p.m.; fireworks cap the event 

Independence Celebration at Old Sturbridge Village 

Old Sturbridge Village Independence Day

Old Sturbridge Village will celebrate Independence Day with fife and drum music, cannon demonstrations when weather permits, performances, a parade, hands-on activities, readings, and a public naturalization ceremony. Admission is included with general daytime admission or Village membership.

Time: Village open 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
