Here's a round up of events we're looking forward to this June in Central Massachusetts:
Farmers Markets You Need to Know About
Market season is back, and the newest in the region, Market on Brussels, made a huge splash on their opening Sunday. Over 30 vendors drew a huge crowd, offering everything from local fresh produce to meats, seafood, baked goods, specialty foods and craft beverages. On Thursdays, starting on June 5th, you can visit the Auburn Farmers Market at Pappas Recreation Complex from 4-7pm. On Wednesday, June 18th, the Out to Lunch Festival & Farmers' Market is back bigger than ever! We love this festival on the Worcester Common because they have world-class musicians starting at 12 pm, with intermission entertainment from local groups. Also, Worcester's tried and true weekday REC Farmers Market at Beaver Brook Park comes back June 20th, Friday mornings 9 am to 12 pm.
Food Festivals You Won't Want to Miss
All across the region there are food festivals that showcase local ingredients, family-owned businesses, and locally craft-made beverages. They're all ticketed events, with prices ranging from $5 to $55, and most offer discounts for advance ticket purchasing.
Family Friendly Food Truck & Craft Beer Festival
Cultural Events to Elevate Your Appreciation for the Arts
From kinetic sculptures, music and hand-painted on silks at the botanic gardens, to the opera performed in English presented by Greater Worcester Opera - there is a huge variety of events to attend. The city's biggest venues are hosting shows too: Rocky Horror Picture Show is at Hanover Theatre and Mechanics Hall hosts a special event called Encore: A Night of Music & Celebration.
Family Fun at Old Sturbridge Village
Kick off the summer with a round of friendly family competition! For nine days this June, families are welcome to join in a slate of 19th-century-inspired games, competitions, and feats of skill. When you attend the special events June 21st or 22nd you'll also be treated to the opening weekend of the CowParade! Visitors at Old Sturbridge Village love seeing the heritage breed cattle at the Freeman Farm, and this summer, visitors can also enjoy artistically decorated cows throughout our scenic, historical landscape! The sculptural cows feature designs focused on life in New England, America's 250th anniversary, and even more will go "on parade" at the Village throughout the summer.
Lavender Farm Fest at The Farm at SummitWynds
Experience the Lavender Farm Fest (June 20–22 & 27–29) at The Farm at SummitWynds in Holden, MA—a serene celebration set on a 32-acre hilltop with majestic views of Mount Wachusett. Wander through fragrant lavender fields, strike a pose, and relish lavender-infused treats like ice cream and lemonade. Enjoy live music, a vintage camper photo booth, artisanal marketplace, meet baby chicks and farm animals, join yoga among the blooms, or let kids enjoy pony rides, games, and butterfly releases. This event is rain or shine, and tickets sell out fast, so get yours today!
