America's Revolution Didn't Start at Lexington and Concord in 1775...
We all know what sparked the American Revolution. The catalyst was the “shot heard round the world” that took place in the fields of Lexington and Concord in 1775, right? Some historians would say wrong.
These historians would tell you of a “hidden history.” One that took place right here in Central Mass. And that this hidden history reveals events that took place in Worcester 8 months prior, events that mark the first true revolt against British authority.
Most of us have no idea about Worcester’s hidden history — The Worcester Revolution of 1774 — and the role Central Mass played. Was it because there were no shots fired? Because we got distracted by the allure of Paul Revere’s ride? It wouldn’t be the first time we’ve forgotten important historical events.
But now it’s time to remember, and to show patriotism for a forgotten history that is forever embedded into our region.
Learn the real history, follow the movement, and celebrate Worcester’s role in America’s Revolution on October 2nd, 2016 when the region comes together for an afternoon commemorating this historical moment. The event is free and open to the public.

- Reenactors of Colonial Militia and British Troops.
