The Town of Webster is a medium size community located on the Connecticut border. Founded in 1832, it was primarily an industrial center due to its abundant water supply. Textiles and shoe factories flourished in Webster, resulting in a population with diverse ethnic backgrounds. Webster’s richest asset is the beautiful fresh-water, spring-fed Lake Chargoggaggoggmanchaugagoggchaubunagungamaugg, popularly known as Webster Lake. Water activities such as fishing, waterskiing, swimming, boating and sailing abound on this magnificent five-mile-long lake. Webster is the home of Indian Ranch, which has been hosting live outdoor entertainment on the shore of Webster Lake since 1946 and is New England’s premier destination for country music. Indian Ranch’s newest attraction is the Indian Princess, a modern day replica of the grand paddlewheel riverboats that plied the Mississippi River in the 19th century.
